Tanner Taylor

My name is Tanner Taylor, and I am humbled to be serving as the 2020-21 Oklahoma FFA state president.

I am from the small lake community of Ketchum, Oklahoma, where I attended school from pre-kindergarten through seventh grade before moving to Adair High School.

Growing up, I was involved on our family farm, where we operated a small commercial cow calf and registered quarter horse operation. This is where my brother, Hayden, who is 14, and I would learn of our love for the outdoors and production agriculture. My parents are Shon and Joy Taylor.

After my seventh grade year, my family and I decided I would transfer to Adair Public Schools to pursue my dream of becoming an FFA member. My interest in FFA was sparked at a young age when I began participating in livestock judging as a 4-H member. My agricultural instructors, Shane Johnson and Devin DeLozier, took me in as if I was their own and showed me the person I could one day become with enough hard work and persistence. As a high school FFA member, I participated in livestock evaluation, prepared public speaking, commercial cattle grading, horse evaluation and opening and closing ceremonies.

Throughout my time within the blue and gold, my supervised agricultural experience has grown to consist of three rather diverse experiences: a beef production project for which I market the offspring of my commercial and registered show females as show prospects to local 4-H and FFA members; a wildlife management experience in which I am employed at my family’s game bird hunting area where we raise and sell recreational hunts on pheasant, quail and chukar; and my employment as a sales associate at B-5 Enterprises Show Supplies, where I market livestock show supplies and services.

When I am not in the blue and gold jacket, I can be found in a few different places, either the barn working to improve my cow calf operation, the woods with my dad and brother or Langley First Baptist Church, where I attend services.

I am currently attending Oklahoma State University majoring in agricultural education. Upon graduation, I aspire to be an agricultural instructor here in Oklahoma where I can inspire tomorrow’s youth just as my ag instructors did for me.
