Southeast Area VP
Jaycie Shelburne
jshelburne@okffa.org
My name is Jaycie Shelburne. I am thankful to be serving the Oklahoma FFA Association as the
2020-21 Southeast Area vice president.
I was born and raised in Durant, Oklahoma. I attended Durant Public Schools from pre-
kindergarten to 12th grade. I will attend Oklahoma State University this fall to seek a degree in
agribusiness and animal science.
In my younger years I participated in rodeo and a number of other sports. After a few years of
bouncing around different sports trying to find where I felt happiest, I finally came back to rodeo
at the age of 13. From then on it was a blur, much like when my mother was driving down the
rodeo trail.
When I joined FFA in ninth grade I didn’t have big plans for my future in the association.
Neither of my parents had fallen in love with FFA during high school, but I quickly realized that
was not going to be the case for me. With a big push from my FFA adviser, Jeremiah Adams, I
found a part of myself I had never really noticed. I was now a leader.
Throughout my four years in the wonderful blue and gold jacket I was involved in every event
our chapter offered us. This included public speaking events, shooting sports, livestock judging
and even showing a calf my senior year. My involvement in FFA is also what lead me to my
dream profession, owning a rough stock company. Though Beg Borrow and Steal Cattle
Company is still small, I have high hopes for it and plan to keep pushing until we are at the top
of the game.
I plan to continue to operate my rough stock business as well as own a veterinary hydrotherapy
clinic in southeast Oklahoma. I also plan to continue my rodeo career. For now, I am focused on
my current position in the Oklahoma FFA and our journey for the following year. I am excited to
make history and hope to educate and inspire the future leaders in our association.
