  Southwest Area VP
Caden Schaufele

My name is Caden Schaufele, and I am ecstatic to be serving this year as the 2020-21 Southwest Area vice president for the Oklahoma FFA Association.

This fall, I will be attending Oklahoma State University and majoring in agribusiness with a pre- law option.

As a young child, I lived in Edmond, Oklahoma, but would frequently spend my weekends traveling down to and working on my grandparents’ farm with my dad. I would always look forward to getting up early and sleeping through the two-hour drive to run around in the abundant farmyard grass, looking to play with anything I could get my hands on. When I grew older, I started to work with my dad and developed an appreciation for the work needed to get food on the tables of hungry people around the world.

My life changed forever when my family moved down to Hobart, Oklahoma, to start farming full time. It gave me the opportunity to see what feeding people was about and the joys and discomforts that go along with it.

Moving to a predominantly agricultural town also introduced me to Oklahoma FFA. That organization opened the door to let me find one of my true talents, public speaking. The hours spent studying, writing, memorizing and giving speeches have created so many life-changing memories that I will keep with me forever.

In high school, I was highly active. I loved playing football in the fall and baseball in the spring. I was also a part of FCA, Jr. Main Street and, of course, FFA. My supervised agricultural experience throughout my high school career was paid placement on our family farm and raising bottle calves for beef production.

When I have the time, I love to run off to the great outdoors with a fishing pole or gun in hand. Some of my fondest memories are fishing trips with my grandpa and hunting anything that has a season with friends and family.
